Braden & Rachel | Bear Valley, Alaska

It is not often that I have the opportunity to photograph my sister, Rachel. She flew out of the nest not long after I did, but while my adventures brought me back to Alaska, her's have taken her south, and far east, to Pennsylvania, Ohio, and for the moment, Washington D.C.
This year, she flew home for Christmas and brought Braden with her. In some ways it is odd to see my baby sister all grown up, in love, and on her way to being married. I would be skeptical, (as any older sister would, yes?) except that he is actually pretty fantastic and a perfect match for her. She is brave, adventurous, and independent. He is kind, honest, and witty. Their humor together is the stuff hit sitcoms are made of.

This was a special session in so many ways. The day was gray, and the tiniest of snowflakes swirled around them. Watching these two interact confirmed what I already suspected. He will be stealing her away in no time at all. It's a good thing he is such a gentleman, because we wouldn't part with her for anyone less.

I am proud to be her sister.
Ohio doesn't know how lucky it is to have her.
