Raven Glacier Lodge Wedding + Helicopter Tour in Girdwood, Alaska
When Kirsten and Tucker began planning their elopement in Alaska, they knew they wanted the day to embody the things most meaningful to them. With hiking and the outdoors being something they had always prioritized in their relationship, Alaska, in all its rugged beauty, felt like the perfect place to celebrate the beginning of their marriage.
So, after only a few short weeks of planning (many thanks to Jordan of AK Happenings for pulling it all off beautifully!) and just over a year and half after a chance encounter at a bar, the two of them set off on a guided helicopter tour deep in the mountains of Alaska's Chugach Range. They wanted something that would speak to their adventurous spirits, yet allow them to incorporate their value for family.
While we absolutely love the freedom that having an intimate elopement brings, there is also something so special about celebrating major life moments with the ones who love and support us the most.
With a helicopter tour they could get the best of both worlds: the expansive beauty the tops of mountains hold, paired with plenty of time spent with their closest friends and family afterwards.

In our opinion, there are few places in the world that are more beautiful than the Chugach in autumn. Covered in gold and shocking reds, the mountains nearly look like they’re on fire and contrast magnificently with the icy blue of the massive glaciers. Our first stop was a waterfall where Kirsten put on her dress. The roar of the rushing water matched the anticipation as the dress slipped over her head and they prepared to see each other for the first time in their wedding attire.
After their first look by the waterfall, we landed on a mountain ridge where we were able to explore freely, pick blueberries, and create some more portraits.
As the mist rolled in, we returned to Girdwood and stopped at the local brewery (Girdwood Brewing Co.) where they enjoyed a beer and sushi— and most importantly, wrote their vows. This time also allowed them to really soak in the presence of each other before we headed to Raven Glacier Lodge, where finally they got married surrounded by family.
More of their close friends joined them for a celebratory dinner (Cathy at Raven Glacier Lodge makes the most incredible food with locally harvested produce and meat!) The night ended with delicious food and drink paired with the sounds of joy and laughter of family and friends. We couldn't have imagined a better day for these two to start their journey as a married couple.
